TAPS Volunteer Receptionist #302 - 895 Fort Street, Victoria (corner of Fort and Quadra)

TAPS is the only organization in Victoria providing free, face-to-face advocacy for people with income assistance, disability benefits and tenancy issues.

TAPS assists over 3,000 people in Victoria each year.

TAPS helps all types of people - from professionals who have just lost their jobs to people who have seen their health decline from living on income assistance (read more about who we help ).

TAPS provides legal education and training through seminars and free one-on-one legal advocacy and representation. TAPS also has a newsletter, TAPROOT with updated legal information that is widely distributed throughout Greater Victoria. TAPS advocates help people in the Victoria area with matters that involve any of the following:

  • disability benefits applications and appeals
  • social assistance (welfare)
  • EI applications and appeals
  • landlord/tenant disputes
  • income tax for low-income earners
If you need help, call TAPS at (250) 361-3521 to make an appointment. We also do referrals. Even if we can't help you, we may know of an organization who can.
